The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo
Governor of New York State
NYS State Capitol Building
Albany, NY 12224
Dear Governor Cuomo:
On behalf of the national environmental community and our millions of members and supporters, we write to you today to support the position taken by our New York colleagues on the issue of fracking. On June 20, 2012, dozens of New York organizations wrote to you to express their urgent concerns about media reports that New York State has already decided to proceed with fracking, even prior to the completion of the State’s environmental review process and despite gaps in this review. Our organizations endorse this letter. In accord with that letter, we urge you to ensure that New York State does not proceed with fracking, even in the demonstration project that is apparently under consideration, unless and until the impacts to New Yorkers’ health, environment and economy have been comprehensively and properly addressed.
